BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Chances are, if you’re on this page, you’re either considering volunteering your time or you’ve already committed to volunteering your time with us and for either or both, we say “THANK YOU!” As a volunteer-run organization, we depend on the kindness and generosity of our sports families, friends, and other community members to help us provide quality athletic programs to the youth of northern Palm Beach County.

Before anyone can officially volunteer in one of our programs, you must first register for the specific program(s) you’ll be assisting in (if you haven’t done that already). To do this,  you will need to log in to your Blue Sombrero/Sports Connect account (or create one if you don’t have one) to see what sports are open for volunteers to register in.  The other way to register as a volunteer is to sign up while you are in the process of registering your player(s) for their sport(s). Either one is a perfect way to get started on your path to being a JTAA volunteer.

ALL volunteers are required to complete a background check that is good for one year from the date it is processed. We’ve partnered with TruView for our background checks and you can typically find the link to their background check process in the confirmation notes sent after you’ve registered as a volunteer. If you’ve signed up to volunteer and haven’t heard about how to submit a background check, please reach out to our Executive Registrar, Dawn Mesa, at [email protected] for more information.

Those who are volunteering as a head or assistant coach in our sports programs are also required by JTAA to complete NAYS (National Alliance for Youth Sports) training. This can be found on our web site under the “Information” menu or by clicking the following:  http://www.jtaa.org/nays. JTAA does cover the cost of NAYS training for our coach volunteers.

In addition, please know that some of our sports (e.g., baseball and soccer) do have additional requirements for volunteers that must be completed before you can assist with a team in these sports.

Thank you again for your interest in helping our program and, more importantly, our youth in the Jupiter-Tequesta area!

NAYS CERTIFIED

JTAA requires all volunteer coaches to be NAYS coach certified. NAYS, also known as the National Alliance for Youth Sports, was formerly known as the National Youth Sports Coaches Association or NYSCA.

NAYS certification provides each coach with valuable information that will help them be the best coach possible.  In addition to the provided training and ongoing education materials, coaches also have access to the NAYS certification that covers each coach with a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy.

NAYS Parent Orientation

NAYS Parent Orientation takes approximately 30 minutes.  After completion it will take 1-2 business days to update JTAA with your member number.

Having Problems?

The nice folks at NAYS are able to assist you with any technical problems watching the orientation video or with your NAYS member ID. You can reach NAYS via email at [email protected] or by calling NAYS Member Services at 561-684-1141, during the hours of 8:30 to 4:30 M-F. They have no knowledge of your JTAA sport, dates/season(s), uniforms, or sport registration.
